What is The Facial Spa?

The Facial Spa is a small privately owned business featuring HydraFacial™ skin resurfacing treatments and facials from Erno Laszlo and BABOR.  You may have seen the HydraFacial™ featured on the DOCTOR’S TV show highlighting the benefits and amazing results from this treatment.  The Facial Spa is the exclusive provider of the HydraFacial™ in Birmingham.  Each month we host Spa Days and book a limited number of private consultations for this service. 

What is the difference between Microdermabrasion and a HydraFacial™ treatment?

Microdermabrasion sprays aluminum dioxide, a crystal or sand-like material, across the skin’s surface and blasts away the uppermost layer of dead skin cells, then vacuums the crystals and skin away. 
Through the advancement in technology, the HydraFacial™ process was created and uses a serum to soften the dead skin cells instead of crystals, thus creating a much more gentle exfoliation process.  In addition, the HydraFacial™ offers two additional steps, extractions / deep pore cleansing, and a super hydrating treatment serum to soothe and calm the skin.

After Microdermabrasion treatments my skin is red and irritated for a day or two, will this happen with the HydraFacial™?

No.  You will not have any irritation or redness after the HydraFacial™ treatment.  Your skin will look better than ever with a radiant glow.

Will the HydraFacial™ get rid of the ugly brown spots and patches on my face and neck?

This problem is more prominent in summer due to sun exposure.  You will see a minimization of dark pigmentation after your first HydraFacial™ treatment and with a series of treatments you will see a huge reduction.  It will not go away 100%, however, I personally have this problem on my neck and it has been greatly reduced through HydraFacial™ treatments.  I also recommend using sunscreen on the face and neck everyday and the Erno Laszlo Intensive Décolleté Cream.

What are the steps of the HydraFacial™ treatment?

Each consultation begins with a personal skin care analysis to select the best products to be used during your facial from the Erno Laszlo and BABOR skin care collections.  Your spa treatment starts with a warm hand and arm massage.  As you relax the Esthetician will begin the three phase HydraFacial™ treatment.  The final step is a gentle facial massage and moisturizing treatment for the face, eye area, neck, and décolleté.

Why do HydraFacial™ treatments cost more than Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a one step exfoliation process.  The HydraFacial™ is a unique and gentle skin resurfacing treatment with multiple steps using exclusive serums and three different application tips.  The HydraFacial™ does more than exfoliate; it offers deep pore cleansing, extractions, a reduction in hyper-pigmentation, and a special hydration step to soothe and calm the skin.   There is no irritation or redness with and you see immediate results after your first treatment.
